10 Tips to Maximize the Success of Your Real Estate Website Part I

Most real estate agents have a website.  Some have a good website.  But few have a great website – one that actually works to build their brand and (most importantly!) generate leads.

So how do you build a great real estate website?  In this and the blog that will follow next week, we’ll outline 10 tips to maximizing the success of your real estate website.  Done right, your website can generate leads (who you can then market to by e-mail and direct mail), provide your prospects and clients with valuable information (positioning you as the expert), and act as a modern-day Yellow Pages where prospects searching for agents can find and learn about you.

Tip 1: Start with your goal.  You have to know where you’re going in order to get there. What do you want your real estate website to achieve? What is its purpose?

Tip 2: Map it out.  Now you know where you’re going, time to draw your map.  The most successful real estate websites are the most user-friendly real estate websites.  Every decision – about layout, graphics, and content – should be made with an eye to how it will make the user experience friendlier.

Tip 3: Think color.  Choose two or three colors that will become your brand trademarks (Castelazo Marketing Ltd.’s are blue and orange, if you haven’t noticed), then use them throughout your site.

Tip 4: A picture is worth a thousand words . . .  Graphic elements will not only keep your website interesting but will also help you tell your story – and accomplish your goals.  Use image tags wisely and Google will reward you.

Tip 5: . . . But words matter too.  While a picture may be worth a thousand words, content is king. The best real estate websites have pictures and content that work together to tell a story – and to accomplish the goals of the site (generate leads, make sales, etc.).
